O'Keefe earned a bachelor's degree in communication arts from the University and a master of arts in educational administration from Dominican University, River Forest, Ill. He was a four-year letter winner in football and team captain of the Vikings in 1994. He was three times named to the first- or second-team CCIW. Twice O'Keefe was named CCIW "Player of the Week." He led the conference in tackles twice, was most valuable player in 1994 and was Honorable Mention All-American. O'Keefe is head football coach at De La Salle High School, Chicago. His teams have been to state quarterfinals in 2007, 2008 and 2009. O'Keefe is secretary of the Chicago Catholic League Coaches Association and is a three-time Chicago Catholic League Coach of the Year. He and his wife, Meghan, are parents of daughters Shannon and Una.
