A two-sport athlete and multiple letter winner in both football and basketball, Williams earned team MVP honors as the co-captain of the football team in 1969. Nominated by James Williams, Alan was a four-year letter winner and averaged 6.4 yards per carry throughout his Viking FB career. His coaching record is just as impressive if not more. As a head softball and football coach at Mt. Vernon High School in Washington, Alan accumulated a 397-243 overall record (softball) with state playoff appearances in 1987, '88, '90-'95, including a state title run in 1995, and 2010. As a football coach, his team won nearly 60 games and they reached the state semifinals in 1983.
