CHICAGO, Ill. -- Esther Miller continues to make a significant impact as a multi-sport student-athlete at North Park University. Miller can now add "All-Region" to her list of accomplishments, as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named her All-Midwest in the Heptathlon on Wednesday afternoon.
Miller's recent 4169 point total in the Heptathlon is currently second within the all-time North Park record books. Additionally, her 400m time of 59.51 and triple jump of 11.56m are both good for third all-time.
Miller had the opportunity to compete at the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa this season. In the two-day event she totaled four personal records.
From the Drake Relays press release on May 3:
In the 100m Hurdles, she shaved off a whole second running a 16.30 and did nearly the same in the 200m by running 1.42 seconds faster at 27.04. In the shot put she threw nearly a two-meter difference from her previous PR and ended up with 8.86M. Last but not least, she ran her first 800 meters in a time of 2.29.66. She totaled 3829 points in the competition and had a seventh-place finish overall, moving up five places after the 800m.
Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team.
Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible for awards.
Overall, there were 15 women's programs and 11 men's programs that earned 20 or more All-Region honors for their efforts during the 2022 outdoor season.
