For the first time in school history the North Park track & field program made the trip to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays, competing against top talent from across the nation in the 4x100 and Heptathlon. The 112th running of America's Athletic Classic saw a North Park top-5 performance in the heptathlon as well as two more top-10 all-time performances.Â
Junior Esther Miller kicked the week off for the Vikings, competing in her first ever Heptathlon at the Drake Relays. In the two days, she hit four personal records. In the 100m Hurdles, she shaved off a whole second running a 16.30 and did nearly the same in the 200m by running 1.42 seconds faster at 27.04. In the shot put she threw nearly a two-meter difference from her previous PR and ended up with 8.86m. Last but not least, she ran her first 800 meters in a time of 2.29.66. She totaled 3829 points in the competition and had a seventh-place finish overall, moving up five places after the 800m. With this score, Esther is now 5th all-time, ranked 35th in the nation, and is ranked 3rd in the CCIW.Â
North Park's men's 4x100 Meter relay also had the opportunity to compete at the Drake Relays this past weekend. The team of Michael Kleiner, Jereme Ombogo, Silas Madrigal & Terence Hollis finished with a time of 43.59.Â

On Friday, the Vikings traveled to Wheaton College for the Elmhurst Twilight Invite. Â
Junior Clark Fremouw continues to raise the bar for himself as he was able to improve his mark in the Discus with a throw of 42.85m. That performance ranks seventh all-time at North Park.  Â
Junior Patrycja Miazek also turned in another all-time performance in the 1500 meters as she ran a time of 5:00.67. That performance ranks 10th all-time at North Park.Â
Up next, the Vikings head to the CCIW Outdoor Track & Field Championships from May 6-7.Â
