Klein leads the way for Vikings Track and Field

Rock Island, Il., -- North Park's Track and Field made the trip out to Augustana College on Mother's Day weekend to compete in Augie's Penultimate Qualifier.  Marqueeing the weekend was Julia Klein, who is qualifying for nationals after her performance in pole vault on Friday.  Klein earned a 1st place finish clearing 3.87m, a meet record and puts her in a tie for 11th best in the country across Division III.  A handful of Klein's teammates had strong finishes this weekend, and more aim to show success this week as they travel back to Augustana on May 13th for the Midwest Twilight Qualifier.  As for this weekend's finishes -- 

Women's Track

  • 100m: Riana Hayes eanrned a 2nd place finish with a time of 12.62s.
  • 200m: Riana Hayes had another strong performance in the 200m, placing 4th with a season best 26.35s time.      
  • 800m: Cyan Bradley took 3rd place with a personal best time 2:32.57.

Men's Track

  • 200m: Jordan Brazil notched a new personal best, running 22.56s which was good for 5th place out of a 22 person heat

Men's Field 

  • Triple Jump: Darrius Whiters jumped an impressive 13.90m to earn himself the 2nd place finish.  His jump now places him just inside the top-100 triple jumpers across all of Division III as he now sits at 97.

The Augustana Midwest Twilight Qualifier is set to begin on Wednesday, May 13th at 1pm and will conclude on Thursday, May 14th.
