Kenosha, WI., -- North Park Track and Field took their talents to the CCIW Outdoor Championships hosted by Carthage College this weekend. The two day meet saw many of the prelims take place on Friday, May 1st and the finals taking place on Saturday May, 2nd; the Vikings had many strong finishes across events. As the outdoor season, inches to a close, the Vikings are staying consistent while still looking to improve each and every week with their eyes set on the NCAA Outdoor Championships coming at the end of May. Here is how some of the Vikings faired against the rest of the conference:
Women's Track:
Women's Field:
- Pole Vault: Julia Klein finished 3rd in a 26 competitor field, clearing 3.66m.
- Javelin: Kayna Kanemoto continued her trend of strong finishes, placing 3rd after throwing 35.94m.
Men's Track:
- 800m: Albin Freiholtz placed 3rd in the 800m finals with a personal best of 1:54.59.
Men's Field:
- High Jump: Wesley McCloud tied for a 3th place finish after clearing 1.97m.

Triple Jump: Darrius Whiters cracked the top-5, jumping 13.62m for a new personal best.

Javelin: Gabriel Thede launched a 53.14m throw that got him a 3rd place finish in a 22 man event

Shot Put: Theo Smith finished in 14th place in a deep 32 competitor field, throwing a distance of 13.04m.

Discus: Richard Covington saw a 12th place finish out of 30 throwers with a distance of 39.79m.
The Vikings will stay on the road this week as they travel to Rock Island, Illinois to compete in the Augustana Penultimate Qualifier on Friday, May 8th.
