CHICAGO, Ill. -- Senior sprinter Riana Hayes qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in the 60m Race and will compete on the national stage in Birmingham, Alabama this coming Friday, March 13.
Hayes has enjoyed four first-place finishes in 60m races this season, including setting a personal and school record at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Championships on February 28 with a 7.59. That time currently ranks 14th in Division IIIÂ and it's less than a half second away from cracking the top 5. Wisconsin-Platteville's Isabel Peterson (7.46), TCNJ's Lucia Garcia-Beltran (7.48) and Tufts' Simisola Lawal (7.48) are the only runners to break 7.5 this season.
Hayes will compete at the Birmingham CrossPlex in the first-round pool of 60m runners on Friday, March 13, at 2:00 PM CT and sets her sights on qualifying for the finals race on Saturday, March 14, at 10:55 AM CT.
