ELMHURST, Ill. & DES MOINES, Iowa -- North Park Track & Field competed at the Elmhrust Twilight Invite and the Viking women also sent a group of athletes to compete at the Drake Relays in the 4x100 and 4x200.
North Park was the fastest Division III team in the 4x100, establishing a new program record with a 47.48 to finish just outside of the finalist's field. That 4x100 team consists of Mariana Costa, Riana Hayes, Thea Ring, and Meja Lindberg.
At the Elmhurst Twilight, John Sassan was the top Viking finisher, placing first in the Javelin Throw with a mark of 53.57m. Tyler Olson was in third with a 44.18m throw.
Johanna Soedergaard was fifth on the women's side of the Javelin throw, PR'ing with a 29.26.
Lauren McKnight also set a personal record in the Shot Put, heaving the shot 10.68m for a third-place finish.
Richard Covington placed sixth in the Discus throw at 40.63m, setting a personal record, and added a season best in the Hammer Throw at 34.53m to place 18th.
James Boldware cracked the top ten in the 100m at 11.09. Ali Karatas set a season best in the 1500m (4:27.12) and Giovanni Del Carmen PR'd the event (5:06.45).

North Park looks to the CCIW Outdoor Championships on May 2 & 3, hosted at North Central College.
