NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Jereme Ombogo and Ali Karatas were the top performers for North Park in the Vikings' participation in the Chicagoland Intercollegiate meet on Saturday afternoon.
Ombogo boasted the best time in the 60m prelims by nearly a tenth of a second, qualifying for the finals in the top position with a 6.86. Ombogo further improved in the 60m finals with a time of 6.82, closing in on his season best and PR of 6.78. However, DuPage's Timothy McMiller came out of nowhere, PR'ing with a 6.78 to finish as the top sprinter and one spot ahead of Ombogo.
Ombogo left no doubt in the 200m. He was the only sprinter to finish with a sub 22.0 time at 21.94, placing first in the event by nearly a half second.
Karatas was 20th of 54 competitors in the Mile race with a time of 4:38.88 to finish near the top third. He was also 9th of 20 in the 1000m (2:51.96).
Both Mason Wilson and Thomas Knight PR'd in the Shot Put with respective distances of 12.45m and 11.42m. Knight's 12.89m toss in the Weight Throw was also a PR.
