AKRON, Ohio / CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park Track & Field competed on the campus of Akron and U-Chicago this past Friday and Saturday.
At Akron, Junior sprinter Riana Hayes qualified for the 60m finals and placed sixth with a time of 7.80 while earning ninth in the 200m with a mark of 25.39. Junior multis competitor Thea Ring was the runner up in the 400m dash with a time of 57.61, finishing as runner up in a pool of Division I athletes. Hayes was the top Division III finisher in the 60m, as well.
For the men, junior sprinter Jereme Ombogo was the top DIII athlete in the 200m finals, finishing just .15 seconds behind the event's winner, Akron's AJ Jordan, with a time of 21.62. He was also a top-5 finisher in the 400m, finishing fifth of 21 with a mark of 48.97.
For the Windy City Rumble, Wesley McCloud earned a pair of points for the Vikings with a 1.78m bound in the high jump to place seventh. Kimoria Oliver nearly scored some points for the Vikings with a ninth-place finish in the long jump at 4.93m, a new personal record for her. Kordell Berry was also a near point-scorer in the shot put with a toss of 12.52m.
