NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- North Park Track & Field compete at North Central's Pat Heenan Invitational on Saturday. Junior sprinter Riana Hayes had a pair of top-two finishes while both the NPU Men's and Women's 4x400m teams performed well.
Hayes secured another top placing in the 60m, finishing in second of the prelims with a PR time of 7.78 to qualify for the prelims. She reduced that time, PR'ing again, in the finals at 7.74, earning 10 points for the Vikings with a first-place finish. The time was also good for a school record. Hayes added eight more points in the 200m with a sprint time of 25.93 to finish second.
Thea ring and Julia Klein also PR'd in the 60m with times of 8.23 and 8.40, respectively, in the prelims. Junior Julia Klein placed fifth in the Pole Vault with a throw of 2.95m and senior Lauren McKnight was the next-best performer for the NPU Women, securing a fifth-place finish in the Shot Put with a heave of 11.00m.
The Vikings Women's 4x400m team placed second in the relay with a time of 4:21.21. That group is made up of Hayes, Ring, Klein, and Melanie Sorisho.
For the men, Ubayd Kromwell PR'd in the Long Jump (6.54m) to finish fifth. Wesley McCloud was eighth in the High Jump (1.80m) and the 4x400m team of Josh Brito, James Boldware, Kromwell, and Glen McGowean were eighth with a time of 3:46.34.
