CHICAGO, Ill. -- Senior utility player Bobby Bartlett continues to pile up the awards after a stellar 2024 season at North Park. On Thursday afternoon, Bartlett was named to the 2024 Amercian Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) NCAA Div. III Region 8 All-Defensive Team as the top fielding pitcher in the region.
Bartlett, a fourth-team All-American by the ABCA secured these honors after fielding .989 with 16 assists as a two-way player. In 61.2 innings pitched, only three runners were successful in stealing a base against him. He added a pick off and aided in four runners being thrown out attempting to steal. Wheaton's Jacob Synder (1B) and Harrison Stanton (3B) and North Central's Luke Lehnen (OF) were also represented on the All-Defensive Team as the CCIW accounted for four of Region 8's nine selections.
Bartlett, the 2024 CCIW Player of the Year, was formidable at the plate and on the hill to guide the Vikings to a CCIW title. The left hander led NPU with a 3.36 ERA, .223 batting average against, .800 win-loss percentage, and was second on the team with 48 strikeouts. He only got better as the season went on, evidenced by his season high 10 strikeouts against Carthage in the CCIW Tournament.
The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee.
The Chair of the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America & Coach of the Year Committee is Paul Hesse of the University of Mount Union.
