CHICAGO, Ill. – Climbing five spots since last week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Top 25 Poll, North Park women's volleyball broke into the national poll on Tuesday afternoon for the first time in program history. The Vikings (13-1, 2-0 CCIW) were ranked 22nd after enjoying a jaw-dropping upset of fourth-ranked Calvin University.
North Park is on a 10-match winning streak dating back to September 8 against Stevens. The Vikings most significant win of the season occurred last Friday, September 22nd when they beat then-No. 4 Calvin University inside of Van Noord Arena on Friday. This was the first regular season home loss for the Knights since October 2, 2021.
Nationally, North Park is ranked seventh in digs (1,030), ninth in winning percentage (.929), ninth in aces (153), and 33rd in assists (617). Across Division III volleyball, junior outside hitter Adriana Rodriguez is fourth in points (265), fourth in attacks (687), and fifth in kills (227). Senior setter Christina Gatta ranks 13th with 498 assists and his 40th with 32 aces.
The Vikings step back into league action this coming Friday, September 29, for a 2022 CCIW Tournament semifinal rematch with Millikin University. First serve in Chicago is set for 7:00 PM.
