NAPRVILLE, Ill. – Following one of the best weeks in his career, junior second baseman Justin Swanson was named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Hitter of the Week. North Central's Ryan Behling was the pitching representative, as the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Swanson went 7-for-13 in the Vikings' Spring Break trip to Florida this past week, hammering three homers and a double. The Johnson Creek, Wisconsin native was a perfect 3-for-3 with a pair of homers and a double in a 9-7 win over Greenville last Tuesday before cracking another go-ahead homer in the eighth inning last Friday against St. Norbert.
Across his four games, he drove in eight runners, slugged 1.165, recorded 12 assists, and played perfect defense.
This year, Swanson leads the Vikings in batting average (.333), slugging % (.588), runs scored (10), HBP (6), hits (17), RBI (11), doubles (4), home runs (3), and total bases (30).
