CHICAGO, Ill. -- A day before the NCAA Tournament is set to begin, senior setter Christina Gatta earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region 8 recognition as an honorable mention. Gatta joins Illinois Wesleyan's Taylor French and Millikin's Kailee Itzenhuiser as the only three CCIW players on the Region 8 list.
Gatta continues to extend her own career records by posting 1,051 assists and 80 aces this season, alongside 102 kills and 31 blocks. In her 31 matches played, she's averaging 8.83 assists per set, 0.67 aces per set, and 3.44 digs per set. She's dug out the most attacks in her career with 409 on the season and has a chance to surpass her single-season assists mark of 1,087, set back in 2021.
Gatta, a two-time Setter of the Year (2022, 2023) is ninth in the nation with 80 aces, a single-season record for North Park volleyball. She's also the career aces (387) and assists (3,715) leader at North Park, currently ranking 15th in DIII with 1,051 assists in 2023.
She has 30-or-more assists in each of her past six matches and set a career high with 54 against Augustana back on October 20.
