KENOSHA, Wis. –Six top-10 performances in school history and four event wins highlighted the North Park track & field program's day at the Firebird First Invitational on Saturday in Kenosha at Carthage College.Â
Freshman Julia Klein broke her own school record with a jump of 11' 1.75" (3.40m). Julia's vault helped her win the meet while grabbing a national ranking of 19th.Â
Sophomore Jereme Ombogo had a standout day with his biggest marks coming in the 200-meters and 55-meters, finishing first and second, respectively, in the events.Â
Freshman Thea Ring made her presence known as she finished 1st place in the long jump with a jump of 17' 5.25" (5.31m). Her jump places her 4th all-time at NPU and has her currently ranked 39th in the nation. She also had a 2nd place finish in the 200-meters. Â
Senior Patrycja Miazek got the day going with another strong performance in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:48.44. That was just shy of her personal best, established last year.
Freshman Maria Bugge also finished 2nd in the high jump with a jump of 4' 11" (1.50m). Maria's mark places her 6thth all-time in school history.Â
Other top-eight finishes for the Vikings: senior Ameerah Brown finished in 4th place in the 200 with a time 28.95. Olav Gissinger in the 400m (3rd, 53.03), Michael Kleiner in the 400m (5th, 54.56), Clark Fremouw in the weight throw (4th, 14.38m), Ali Karatas in the 800m (5th, 2:08.73), and Silas Madrigal (6th, 2:10.03).Â
