NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Pati Miazek has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. This is Miazek's third-career honor and second this season. Miazek becomes the seventh Viking in 11 days to earn the league's weekly honor.
"Pati's second CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week award is truly a testament to her hard work and dedication to this sport and this team," said head coach Alex Rosenau. "She put in an incredible amount of work over the Summer and it shows each time she toes the line for a workout or race. We couldn't be more proud of Pati and we're super excited to carry this momentum forward as we head towards conference and regionals later this Fall."
Miazek, a sophomore from Warsaw, Poland, placed 10th overall and was the top CCIW runner at the Gil Dodds Invitational in Warrenville, Ill. last Saturday. Her time of 22:50.1 was a few ticks behind the pace of her lifetime personal best of 22:46. Saturday's field included three teams currently ranked in the top 10 nationally, as well as five of the top 10 teams in the Midwest region.
Wednesday's announcement marked Miazek's second weekly honor from the league this season after previously being named Student-Athlete of the Week on Sept. 6. She has won the weekly award three times from the CCIW overall.
