CAROL STREAM, Ill. -- On a make-or-break Monday afternoon, the North Park University baseball team squeaked its way into the 2022 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) tournament, despite a 12-2 loss to Wheaton College. Earlier in the day, North Central College beat Illinois Wesleyan University, 8-4, gifting the Vikings the six seed in the tournament.
North Park's offense was held to just four hits at Lee Pfund Stadium, largely due to starter Jared Kloth's four-inning shutout performance. Wheaton's offense provided 14 hits, including five for extra bases, to equal a quick game of baseball.
The Vikings' Brad Maurer supplied the lone extra-base hit for NPU, while Bobby Bartlett and Reece Arakaki drew two walks each.
