CHICAGO, Ill. -- After five years at the helm of the North Park University men's golf program, RobAnderson has resigned as head coach. Anderson will stay in the world of golf, accepting a position as the Junior Program Coordinator of The Golf Practice in Highland Park, Illinois.
"North Park Athletics would like to thank Rob Anderson for all his work over the years" said John Born, Director of Athletics. "Rob has been the consummate professional, raising every aspect of the golf program. His vision, leadership and expertise will be greatly missed. We wish Rob all the best in his new role."
Under Anderson's guidance, the North Park men's golf team finished 5th at CCIW in 2021 – the program's highest finish in eight years and vaulted in the national rankings from 246 to a current ranking of 121. A number of his teams reached new heights, including a T1 finish at the 2021 Judson Spring Invite with a score of 303, a score of 298 at the 2019 Elmhurst Fall Invite for a third-place finish, and an improvement on their scoring average by more than 30 strokes per round. Anderson has also coach Drew Taylor and Jack Haberkorn to 2020 Cleveland/Srixon All-American Scholar recognition.
"I'm very excited that North Park has committed to bringing back the women's golf program and hiring a full-time coach for our teams," said Anderson. "This is another great step forward for golf at North Park. We will be able to continue to build on the success our men's team has had over the past five seasons. I'm looking forward to working with our new head coach and continuing to support the golf programs at North Park. The plan in place for North Park Golf for next year is exciting for all of us! I want to say a special thank you to our Assistant Coach Andy Hayes, Athletic Directors John Born and Jack Surridge, Vice President Anthony Scola, and former Executive Vice President Carl Balsam. They have all supported my vision for golf at North Park and have helped me tremendously throughout the years. Go Park!"
Anderson intends to continue coaching and assisting the NPU golf program, staying on board as an assistant coach.
