CHICAGO, Ill. -- Senior shortstop Jake Reinhardt has been named the best shortstop in Division III baseball once more, as the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) named him a first-team All-American on Thursday afternoon. Reinhardt was also named a D3baseball.com All-American on Tuesday.
Reinhardt, the 2021 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Hitter of the Year, became the single-season home runs leader at North Park (15), breaking a record set in 1987. The Princeton, Illinois native held a 40-game on-base streak, accumulated 16 multi-hit games, including four multi-home run games, and struck out just 11 times in 172 at-bats. Reinhardt's final totals at the plate were: a slash line of .424/.477/.831, 61 RBI, 73 hits, 11 doubles, seven triples, 15 homers, 16 walks, and 12 stolen bases.
Defensively, Reinhardt carried an illustrious .979 fielding percentage at shortstop with 99 assists, 86 putouts, and 16 double plays turned.
Currently Reinhardt is a member of the West Virginia Black Bears, alongside teammates Ranko Stevanovic and Ethan Sund. The Black Bears compete in the Prep Baseball Report MLB Draft League.
