Reinhardt Named a 2021 Gold Glove Recipient by ABCA/Rawlings

In 189 chances, Reinhardt totaled 99 assists, 86 putouts, and committed just four errors at the premier position of shortstop

CHICAGO, Ill. -- Senior shortstop Jake Reinhardt continues to be rewarded for his illustrious senior season, as he has been named a 2021 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/ Rawlings Gold Glove recipient. The organization announced its nine selections on Wednesday evening.

Reinhardt, one of the highest-achieving North Park student-athletes of all-time, adds a Gold Glove to an already packed trophy case. Here is a tally of what Reinhardt has earned in 2021:

  • 1st Team All-American (ABCA Rawlings & d3baseball.com)
  • Offensive Player of the Year (ABCA Rawlings & d3baseball.com)
  • 1st Team All-Central Region (ABCA Rawlings & d3baseball.com)
  • 1st Team All-CCIW
  • NPU Male Athlete of the Year

Many of these awards have focused on Reinhardt's offensive numbers, but his defensive numbers were also truly unbelievable.

In 189 chances, Reinhardt totaled 99 assists, 86 putouts, and committed just four errors at the premier position of shortstop, accounting for a .979 fielding percentage. He also turned 16 double plays. 

Currently, Reinhardt is a member of the West Virginia Black Bears who compete in the MLB Draft League. Through 63 at-bats he carries a slash line of .270/.400/.449 with five doubles, 12 runs scored, and 11 walks.
