Box Score 3 Chicago, Ill. & Waukesha, Wis. - The North Park University baseball team was swept in a home doubleheader by Carroll University on Sunday afternoon (6-0, 9-3), but struck back on the road one day later, defeating the Pioneers 12-6.
The Viking bats were held scoreless by Carroll pitcher Brett Buzzelli in game one of the Sunday doubleheader, falling 6-0. Ethan Sund still had a stellar day on the mound for North Park, despite picking up the loss, as he threw six innings, allowing only five hits, one earned run, and he struck out nine. The Vikings struck first in game two when Brandon Davis and Justin Swanson scored in the bottom of the second, but North Park couldn't recover from a few explosive innings from the Pioneers, losing 9-3. The other Viking run came on a sacrifice fly from Ranko Stevanovic, scoring Jared Cantu.
The script was flipped on Monday afternoon, when the North Park bats would not be denied. Three runs came across in the first when Davis, Logan Peters, and Justin Woolbright all drove a run home. More runs came across in the second when Jake Reinhardt picked up a two-RBI single, followed soon after by a Davis sacrifice that scored one, and a Woolbright single that scored two more to make it 8-0. The scoring for North Park was capped off in the fifth when Cantu and Stevanovic each scored two runners on base knocks. Bobby Bartlett picked up the win, allowing six hits in six innings, and only one earned run, while Peters got the save throwing the final three innings, allowing no earned runs and striking out four.

North Park (9-11, 4-11 CCIW) rounds out their series with Augustana College on Wednesday, April 14 on the road in Moline. First pitch will be at 3 p.m.
