CHICAGO, Ill. – Jake Reinhardt, of the North Park baseball team, has officially signed with the Schaumburg Boomers of the Frontier League. After having one of the best single seasons in North Park and CCIW history, the former Vikings shortstop will ensure that fans won't have to go far to see him play at the next level.

Reinhardt finished his 2021 season overflowing with accolades. In addition to being named the CCIW's Man of the Year, he was also the Hitter of the Year, a First Team All-CCIW selection, Offensive Player of the Year selection by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and d3baseball.com, as well as being a First Team All-American by ABCA and d3baseball.com. Those awards were largely due to his numbers at the plate, hitting .424 with 50 runs, 11 doubles, seven triples, 15 home runs and 61 RBIs.

His defense warranted a Gold Glove from the ABCA/Rawlings as he fielded .979 from the challenging shortstop position, turning 16 double plays while only committing four errors.

This summer, he played in 39 games with the West Virginia Black Bears of the MLB Draft League where he batted .225 with 22 runs, seven doubles, and 15 RBIs.

The Boomers play their home games at Wintrust Field, meaning Reinhardt is only a 28-mile drive away from the NPU campus. Schaumburg began play in 2012 and since their conception, they've won Frontier League championships including the most recent championship just last month. Reinhardt will be an important piece to the puzzle as the Boomers look to repeat in the oldest currently running independent league in the United States. In 2020, the Frontier League also became an official MLB partner league, enabling collaboration with MLB to jointly discuss marketing and promotional initiatives to grow, expand, and enhance the game of baseball.
