NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The North Park University Athletic department is proud to report that 39 student-athletes that compete during the spring season earned College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Academic All-Conference honors. Additionally, senior shortstop Jake Reinhardt and senior sprinter Elise Ruud were named the Male and Female Jack Swartz Award winners.
Reinhardt was well on his way to an illustrious senior campaign before his season was cut short. The Princeton, Ill. native carried a .477 batting average with two doubles, a triple, and four home runs in just 44 at-bats. Additionally, the 2019 All-Region selection drove in 18 runners, scored 11 runs, and assisted on 36 outs from shortstop. He graduated from North Park University with a degree in biochemistry.
Ruud, the Vikings' record-breaking sprinter, holds the North Park University school record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.92. The Stjordal, Norway native earned a first-place finish in the event at the Red Hawk Opener, a second-place finish at the Windy City Rumble and Margaret Bradley Invitational, and third-place finishes at the Olivet Nazarene Invite and College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Indoor Championships. She graduated from North Park University with a degree in business management.
The CCIW Academic All-Conference list comprises those individuals that achieved an overall grade-point average of 3.30 or above and have served at least one year in residency at their respective school. Each CCIW member institution also selects two student-athletes (one male & one female) from each of the three sport seasons (fall, winter, spring) to be honored as Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference members. To be eligible, an individual must have an overall grade point average of 3.50 or above and have served at least one year in residency at their respective school. Click here for the entire selection criteria for both awards.
The Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference award is named after the former Wheaton College Director of Athletics and CCIW Commissioner. Swartz served in the Athletics Director role from 1975-1982 and as CCIW Commissioner from 1987 until his passing on July 11, 1997.
