Box Score
North Park traveled to Aurora University Friday night and lost a tough non-conference volleyball match to the Spartans by scores of 25-20, 10-25, 24-26, 21-25.
The Vikings started the match strong by earning a first set win, but their offense went stagnant in the second set and as a result scored only 10 points. The third set was seesaw battle until the Spartans used the offensive firepower of Sarah Olesen, who threw down a team-high 11 kills, to eek out a two-point victory. North Park then stayed close with Aurora in the fourth set, but couldn't quite get in a rhythm and lost by a close margin.
“We played up and down tonight,” North Park head coach
Tim Walenga said. “We had moments of brilliance, then moments of struggles and that ultimately decided our fate. I thought our ladies played well enough to win, but we just couldn't get over the hump.”
Junior
Shelby Switzer finished with a double-double of 14 kills and 12 digs, her sixth double-double of the season, while junior
Julia Bakken came up with 26 digs. Junior
Danielle Waldvogel also finished in double-figure digs with 16 and junior
Tricia Ivanoff added 11 kills as well.
North Park (4-6) returns to action Tuesday night when it resumes College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin play with North Central College at 7 p.m.
