KANSASVILLE, Wis. — Facing one of the largest and deepest fields of the fall season, the North Park University men's golf team turned in a 22nd-place finish among 43 teams at the Midwest Regional while senior Felix Pettersson delivered one of the top individual performances of the tournament, tying for fifth place out of 241 golfers.
Pettersson was in contention from the opening round and finished the 36-hole event at 1-under-par 143, carding rounds of 74 and 69. After sitting tied for fifth following the first day, the Swede surged up the leaderboard with a second-round 69 that matched the best scores of the day among the tournament's top finishers.
The highlight round featured five birdies on the back nine alone. Pettersson birdied Nos. 10, 11, 13, 14, and 15, playing the inward nine in 3-under-par 33 to secure a share of third place, just behind the tournament's individual champion.
North Park posted a two-round team score of 601, finishing 22nd in the 43-team field.
Jack Groves provided the Vikings' second-best finish, tying for 113th at 11-over-par 155 after rounds of 79 and 76. Jarne Urbach also tied for 113th, recording rounds of 78 and 77 to finish at 155.
Oliver Parkner improved in the second round with a 78 after opening with an 80, landing in a tie for 149th at 14-over-par 158. Lucan Meade rounded out the scoring lineup, finishing tied for 201st at 21-over-par 165.
Competing as an individual, Maximilian Demen placed tied for 87th at 9-over-par 153 following rounds of 75 and 78.
