CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park Women's Basketball team faces another ranked conference opponent on Wednesday night, traveling to Waukesha, Wisconsin to face national No. 20 Carroll University.
A 61-60 homestanding win over Augusta na gave the Vikings their first win in conference play before the elite scoring of Kristin Bukata led the Elmhurst Bluejays to a win over NPU on Saturday. The Vikings look to string solid minutes together against the Pioneers and climb in the CCIW rankings.
North Park (5-11, 1-6) is led in scoring by junior guard Aliyah Hershberger (14.8 ppg) who recently turned in a career high with 25 points in the loss to Elmhurst. Hershberger also leads NPU in FG% (47.1) and 3PT% (39.3). Junior forward Caroline Long leads the Vikings in Assists (33) and Rebounds (121) while also shooting a team-beast 73.8 (58-80) from the free-throw line.
Carroll (12-4, 6-1 CCIW) is Division III's fourth-ranked team in Field Goal Percentage, boasting a mark of 45.7% while averaging a national 18th-best 16.9 Assists per Game. Much of that work is done by Natalie Gricius, whose 131 buckets rank third in Division III while her 21.5 points per game ranks sixth in the country. The Pioneers are on a four-game winning streak, with their last loss a convincing one - 85-52 at #13 Illinois Wesleyan on January 3.
Tipoff inside Van Male Fieldhouse on Wednesday night is set for 7:00 PM CT.
