ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- North Park was unable to overcome a fast start by Augustana on Wednesday night, falling 72-40 at Augustana's Carver PE Center. Augustana jumped out to a 21-4 lead after the first quarter and carried the momentum throughout the contest.
North Park struggled offensively against the hosts' pressure, shooting 17-of-55 from the field and committing 25 turnovers. Augustana capitalized on those miscues, scoring 24 points off turnovers while controlling the paint with a 46–35 rebounding advantage.
Senior forward Shay Bowen led North Park with a game-high and career-high 16 points, attacking the rim consistently and scoring 7-of-12 from the floor. Junior guard Naomi Kaskavitch added eight points on efficient shooting, and junior guard Aliyah Hershberger chipped in seven points while logging heavy minutes in the backcourt.
Augustana placed four players in double figures and showcased balanced scoring throughout its rotation. Tia Lewis paced the Rock Island Vikings with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Audrey Erickson posted a well-rounded performance with 12 points, six assists and four steals. Paige Melton also scored 12 points and helped push the tempo offensively.
