CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park Track & Field sent a small group that made a big impact at DePaul's Blue Demon Holiday Invite on Friday.
The lead story of the meet for North Park was freshman Albin Freiholtz's performance in the 600m Run. The mid-distance runner finished third in a pool of 10 competitors, including five Division I runners, with a time of 1:21.76, less than two seconds out of first place. That time also set a new all-time mark for NPU Track and is the current fourth-best mark for Division III runners.
Riana Hayes also enjoyed another quality performance in the sprinting events, placing third in the 60m Dash with a time of 7.71, outperforming four Division I opponents. Marley Gandee was third of eight in the Mile Run (5:29.90) while Hayes was fifth of 12 in the 200m (25.70).
