CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park two-sport superstar Jereme Ombogo added a significant honor to his 2024 gallery, picking up College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American honors on Tuesday morning. Ombogo's Academic All-American honors is the first of its kind since Scott Love received his fourth recognition in 1987.
Ombogo enjoyed a breakout season on the football field after earning national attention as an indoor and outdoor sprinter for North Park Track & Field. Ombogo was one of just two players in the CCIW to total 1,000 receiving yards, joining Wheaton's First Team All-Region receiver Ben Bonga who held the top spot with 1,294. More impressively, Bonga had 74 receptions while Ombogo's straightaway speed and elusiveness allowed him to get to 1,016 yards despite 20 fewer receptions. He added 13 receiving TDs, good for second all-time at NPU, and had two TDs in six different games.
Ombogo, a Marketing and Economics student from Houston, Texas who boasts a 3.94 GPA, recently became the first from Viking Track & Field to earn United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week honors when he tied a CCIW record with a 6.78 mark in the 60m and a DIII-leading 21.76 time in the 200m.
