NAPLES, Fla. -- North Park senior safety Ben Butler was noted for his standout performance at the 2026 National Scouting Combine in early January. Butler, who competed alongside a field of 51 Division 1 (FCS) players, registered a pair of interceptions at the All-Star Showcase.
As reported by Central Field Marist Football Beat-Writer & Editor Hayden Shapiro:
Ben Butler turned heads in the All-Star Showcase game with his two interceptions, both of which were extremely difficult plays to make. The first pick sees him jump a route from his box safety spot, somewhere he's more than comfortable playing. His elite closing speed and relentless pursuit surely helped out on this one (watch here). His second forced turnover came on a man-to-man matchup in the slot. Butler is sticky in coverage throughout the rep, then rips the ball straight out of the receiver's hands. Butler will do anything to help his team win, and it was evident in Team Blue's 310 victory.
Butler was a premier defensive back for the Vikings for multiple seasons and has consistently given opposing offenses fits with his ball-hawking skills and ability to impede the run game. In 2025, Butler totaled 44 tackles (33 solo, 11 assisted), 2 interceptions, a team high 5 pass break ups, and added a fumble recovery.
