CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park offensive line played a pivotal role in the Vikings' 55-34 Homecoming win this past Saturday. That starting line of Caleb Apodaca, Kirk Fisher, Jr., Giovanni Fox, Hadyn Turley, and Daniel Young grabbed honors by D3football.com on the National Team of the Week on Monday evening, the first time NPU Football has seen such honors for the offensive line.
The Vikings ran for 292 yards in the standout win, the most rushing yards in a game for North Park Football since a 331-yard performance at Millikin back on November 5, 2011. The Viking offensive line did not surrender a sack all day as starting quarterback Paul Palmer ran the ball only twice against the Pios.
North Park converted on 6 of 10 third downs and scored in the red zone each of the two times they had the chance to. Palmer completed 13 of 19 passes and, as a team, North Park averaged 8.8 yards per rush.
As previously mentioned, this is the first time in program history that the North Park Offensive Line has seen national honors by D3football.com.
The "Team of the Week" is D3football.com's weekly honor roll, in its 28th season of recognizing the top performance at each position from the previous week. Players are nominated by each institution's sports information personnel.
