Jamaal Jones earns POW nod

CHICAGO, IL., -- In their 55-34 victory over Carroll University this past weekend, there were a number of players whose performances were vital to the Vikings' win in all three phases of the game.  The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced today that freshman running back Jamaal Jones was named the CCIW Special Teams Player of the Week, marking the first of his young career.

Jones' afternoon consisted of a high volume of both offensive and special team snaps, making his presence felt in both areas of the game.  However, his 3 kick returns for a total of 135 yards and a touchdown earned him the POW nod.  After the Pioneers regained a 21-19 lead early in the third quarter, Jones returned the ensuing kickoff 99 yards to the house for a Vikings touchdown and giving the lead right back to North Park 26-21.

On the day, Jones accounted for 4 total touchdowns and over 300 yards cumulatively.  The Vikings hope to keep Jones in this rhythm as they head south for their next game against a tough 6-2 Illinois Wesleyan team on Saturday, November 7th at 1pm.
