NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Following a record-setting week where he was named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Track Athlete of the Week, sprinter Jereme Ombogo was the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin's (CCIW) Male Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.
Ombogo became the first Viking in program history to earn a national nod by the USTFCCCA for the indoor season after tying a CCIW all-time record in the 60m. Competing at the Wolverine Invitational in a pool of Division I sprinters, Ombogo placed fifth in the 60m at 6.78 and crossed the line at 21.76 in the 200m to finish second place. He broke his own school record in the 60m at the event and is North Park's all-time indoor leader in the 55m, 60m, 200m, and 400m sprints.
