CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park Track & Field took part in one more meet before 2025, sending a small batch of athletes to compete at DePaul's Blue Demon Holiday Invite on Friday. Ali Karatas and Riana Hayes led the Vikings with finishes worthy of the North Park record book.
In a field of 18 Division I sprinters, Hayes was just outside of qualifying in the top 8 for the 60m finals race, finishing one hundredth of a second off the University of Milwaukee's Angelica Refinski with a time of 7.79. However, that time sets a new women's record for North Park and, of course, is a personal record for Hayes. Hayes also ran a 25.36 in the 200m to finish seventh of 25.
Hayes is now 9th in the country in the 200m and ranked 19th in the 60m.
For the men, Karatas broke a school record in the 600m that he already owned with a time of 1:25.57, placing eighth.

Teammate Giovanni Martinez was not far behind him with a time of 1:31.69, ranking fourth all-time at North Park. Silas Madrigal had a season best time of 23.14 in the 200m and added another season high with a 51.66 in the 400m.
What's Next?
North Park will not compete until the New Year when they head to the Cardinal Opener in Naperville, Illinois on January 10.
