Hayes, Klein earn first-place finishes to lead Vikings at Aurora Grand Prix

AURORA, Ill. -- North Park Track & Field competed at the Aurora Grand Prix this past Saturday, led by another top finish for senior sprinter Riana Hayes.

Hayes dusted the second place finisher by a full tenth of a second in the 60m sprint, crossing the line at 7.73 to bring home the gold for NPU. Hayes was just under a half second behind the top finisher in the 200m, earning second with a time of 25.42.

Staying in the top spot again was Julia Klein, who secured another first-place finish in the Pole Vault with a launch of 3.81m to comfortably grab a win.

For the men, Albin Freiholtz cracked the top 10 in the 800m at 1:56.66 to place sixth while Wesley McCloud's 1.86m high jump also put him in the top 10 at ninth. Richard Covington was 23rd in the Shot Put with a heave of 11.66m.

North Park next competes at UW-Whitewater's Squig Converse this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31.
