Augie Baseball wins Battle of the Vikings on Tuesday night

MOLINE, Ill. -- North Park Baseball suffered an 8-2 loss to Augustana College (19-18) inside Swanson Stadium on Tuesday night. The Vikings now have a pivotal three-game series with North Central to determine their future in the CCIW Tournament.

Augustana was effectively base-to-base most of the game, taking advantage of key opportunities to build a 4-0 lead through three innings. Augustana starting pitcher Adam Bendoraitis carried a perfect game into the fourth inning before junior right fielder let the inning off with a single and later scored on sophomore catcher Reyn Matsuzaki's single down the left field line.

However, a three-run fifth for Augie, generated by four free passes and three hits, took the wind out of North Park's sails. NPU left 10 runners on base in the loss and punched out 11 times. Bendoraitis finished his day with eight of those K's, earning his fourth win of the season.

For North Park, Tommy Eck pitched 2.2 innings and scattered three hits. He did not allow a run to cross the plate in his time on the mound and he's surrendered just one earned run in his past 7.3 innings pitched. Freshman left fielder Vinnie Marvucic, Perona, and Matsuzaki all had a pair of hits on the day.

WHAT'S NEXT?

North Park (13-22, 8-9 CCIW) starts a three-game series with North Central (20-16, 11-5) on Friday, May 2, at Holmgren for their final home game of 2025. First pitch on the North Side is set for 4:00 PM CT.
