CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park University women's basketball heads to Lake Forest College for a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, December 3. The Vikings look to build on their first win of the season and continue improving on both ends of the floor.
North Park enters the contest with a 1-4 record after a convincing 69-45 victory over Illinois Tech on November 20. Through five games, North Park is averaging 55.6 points per game while holding opponents to 56.2, suffering two 1-point losses this season. The Vikings shoot 35.3% from the field and 30.6% from beyond the arc. NPU averages 36 rebounds per game, including 12.6 on the offensive glass, and force 20.4 turnovers per contest.
Leading the way for North Park is junior forward Caroline Long, who does most of her work in the paint with 13.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Junior guard Aliyah Hershberger adds scoring punch and playmaking with 11.6 points and 2.2 assists per game, while senior guard Kathryn Keehn provides balance with 10.6 points and 6.6 rebounds.
Lake Forest, meanwhile, comes into the matchup at 1-5 and will be playing its first home game of the year after six straight contests on the road. The Foresters average 55.7 points per game and shoot 37.5% from the field. They are led by Jamie Springstead, who contributes 10.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, and Mia deGrasse, who adds 9.4 points. All three of the Foresters recent losses have been 12+ points.
