Third straight Player of the Week selection for Women's Soccer goes to Eriksson

Olivia Eriksson continues the POW streak as North Park moves to 5-0 in CCiW

NAPERVILLE, Ill. --   For the third straight week, North Park Women's Soccer had a player named as a CCIW Player of the Week, as the league office announced senior defender Olivia Eriksson as the Defensive honoree. Sofia Svensson kicked it off two weeks ago and Caroline Sjøstedt also earned in the proceeding week before Eriksson secured her honors on Tuesday afternoon. This week Eriksson was named CCIW Defensive Player of the Week, marking the first defensive player to win it for the Vikings this season.

Eriksson is a graduate senior who has been with the Vikings since 2021 and has battled through injuries.  This season she has been a vital part of North Park's defense that is only allowing 0.8 goals per game during their 5 game win streak.  In the Vikings' 3-0 win over Carroll, Eriksson played all 90 minutes logging her first career goal from nearly 50 yards out on her only shot of the match. She was also effective and disruptive on the defensive side of the pitch as she helped the Vikings shut the Pioneers out, breaking up numerous plays when Carroll's offense would get within scoring range.

Eriksson and the Vikings are back in action on Wednesday, October 22, for a home match against Millikin.
