Svensson named CCIW Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Vikings claim consecutive Player of the Week honors for the first time in program history

CHICAGO, Ill. -- As North Park Women's Soccer continues to roll on, freshman midfielder Sofia Svensson's play this past week has earned her the CCIW Co-Player of the Week, splitting the honors with North Central's Jordan Lange.

Last week it was senior forward Caroline Sjøstedt for the Vikings to win it, and now after going 2-0 against Elmhurst and Illinois Wesleyan, Svensson's three total goals on five shots on goal across those two games sees her win the league's weekly honor on Tuesday morning. The dynamic freshman scored twice in the Vikings' win on Saturday and once in the 2-0 shutout against Elmhurst on Wednesday. She was on the field for all 90 minutes of both of North Park's wins.

This is the first time that the Vikings have earned back-to-back Player of the Week honors in program history on top of tying their most CCIW wins with four and plenty left to play.  On the season, Svensson has attempted 15 shots on goal and has 8 goals to her name, shooting an impressive 53% in that regard.  Those 8 goals have her tied for 2nd place, with the aforementioned Lange of North Central, in total goals on the season in the CCIW.  Svensson looks to continue being a big part of the Vikings' offensive success as they try to extend their win streak to five games this Saturday, October 18th against Carroll University.
