Vikings Baseball scores in each inning en route to 18-1 beatdown

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The North Park Baseball program had their best offensive production of the season against Lakeland University on Thursday, short-gaming the Muskies 18-1.

The Vikings got their offense going after an error in left field put Joe Perona on second. After a passed ball, Alex DiVito picked up the RBI with a sac to left field.  Justin Swanson singled through the left side and scored off a Bobby Bartlett double to center.

Carlos Martinez took the mound with a 2-0 lead, picking up 3 strikeouts and giving up 2 hits.

North Park began the second inning with back-to-back singles from Reece Arakaki and Graham Porter before Gio Lucchetto knocked in Arakaki. Ethan Raspolich grounded into a fielder's choice but scored Porter and Perona stayed hot with an RBI triple and DiVito picked up another sac fly to right field giving North Park a 6-0 lead.

Martinez worked a clean frame to bounce the Vikings back in the dugout. North Park scored 5 runs off 1 hit, taking an 11-0 lead in the 3rd inning. Martinez worked quickly again,allowing just one base runner in the bottom of the third. The Vikings scratched one more run across in the 4th.

Brett Ravitz came in to pitch for North Park, tossing a clean frame.

North Park found another run in the top of the 5th, making the game 13-0. Lakeland was able score their first and only run of the game after a walk and back-to-back singles.

Reyn Matsuzaki came off the bench to pick up his first collegiate hit with a single to right field. Riley Jepsen ripped an RBI double to left field as North Park took a 14-1 lead in the top of the 6th.

Ravitz made quick work of the Muskies, allowing one baserunner in the bottom of the 6th.

Swanson led off the top of the 7th with a double to right field before Joe Schaffer found his way on after an error by the second baseman. Garrett Bragg knocked an RBI double to centerfield, scoring Swanson. Arakaki scored Schaffer with an RBI single to right. Rylan Kawakami entered the game and picked up the 3rd double of the inning, scoring Bragg. Then, Matsuzaki hit a sac fly to score Arakaki and give the Vikings a 18-1 lead.

Chase Duffy came in to pitch, slamming the door and picking up 2 strikeouts on the way.

The Vikings (7-6) take on Clarkson University in Auburndale tomorrow, March 15th, at 5:00 PM ET
