Brad Guell Promoted to North Park Football Strength and Conditioning Coordinator

Guell becomes the program's first-ever full time strength and conditioning coordinator

CHICAGO, Ill. – After a season as a North Park football graduate assistant coach, Brad Guell has been promoted to NPU Football's full-time Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.

Guell assisted in coaching the Vikings to a five-win season in 2023, the most for the NPU Football program since 1968. North Park posted conference wins over Millikin, Carthage, Illinois Wesleyan, and Elmhurst. Guell was responsible for film breakdown, organizing and directing the offense and special teams scout squads, and he assisted in game planning and preparation. He also served as a running backs coach and the team's assistant recruiting coordinator.

"The addition of a Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for football provides more evidence of North Park's commitment to creating the very best experience for our players," said Kyle Rooker, NPU's Head Football Coach and the 2023 D3footbal.com Region 5 Coach of the Year. "In hiring Brad Guell, we added a talented young coach who is passionate about the strength and conditioning aspect of building collegiate football players.  He is knowledgeable, develops great relationships with players, and is an extremely hard worker.  Brad earned this promotion, and in this new role he will help elevate our program to new heights."

Prior to North Park, Guell completed an internship with Ripon College Strength and Conditioning, logging 160 hours of development time with over 260 collegiate student-athletes across multiple sports during the 2021-22 school year.

During his five collegiate seasons as a linebacker at Ripon, Guell became a three-time All-Midwest selection, totaling 186 tackles (116 solo), four pass breakups, a fumble recovery, and an interception during his time as a Red Hawk. Additionally, he had 6.5 sacks (-43yds) and 23 tackles for a combined loss of 79 yards. Guell's senior season in 2022 was his most prolific, totaling 55 tackles (37 solo), a pair of sacks, 8 tackles for loss, and a fumble recovery.

Guell graduated from Ripon in December 2022 with a degree in exercise science and an emphasis in human performance. He was also a double minor in strength and conditioning and coaching.

"College athletics has always been a passion of mine," said Guell. "I'm excited about the direction that the program is headed, and I'm looking forward to continuing to build relationships and develop young men. I'm very thankful for the opportunity Coach Rooker and North Park University have given me, and I look forward to continuing to build the program The Right Way."
