CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park baseball has qualified for the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Tournament for the fifth season in a row, finishing fourth in the league this year. The Vikings will face third-seeded Millikin at Augustana's Swanson Stadium on Wednesday, May 10, at 7:00 PM CT.
North Park has made a habit of advancing in the CCIW playoffs, winning a pair of games last season and made it to the CCIW Tournament championship in 2018. The Vikings are led by four all-conference picks in Bobby Bartlett (LHP/1B), Garrett Bragg (C), Nathan Sommerfeld (OF), and Justin Swanson (2B). In CCIW action, the Vikings led the league with 15 double plays and showcased one of the best pitchers and hitters in Bartlett (1.54 ERA / .231 BA) and Swanson (.400 / .536 / .662 / 27 R), respectively.
The Vikings ended the regular season against Millikin and will turn around just a few days later to open their participation in the tournament. The Big Blue and Augustana are the only two teams to showcase an ERA below 4.00 against CCIW opponents, fielded at a .979 clip, and boast the CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year in Sam Bushur (.336 / .416 / .473 / 33 RBI / 14 SB).
