CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Vikings' men's volleyball team took three sets in a row against the Marian Sabres on Tuesday evening, securing their second sweep of the season. With the win, North Park now sits at 5-3 overall with conference play on the horizon.Â
Even with the one-sided result, all 3 sets between the Vikings and Sabres remained competitive through the final point, finalizing at scores of 25-23, 25-22, and 25-19. The separating factor for NPU was attacking efficiency. The Vikings connected on 43 kills in 106 attacks, good for a .255 hitting percentage, while Marian only managed a .118 mark on 85 tries. The front row defense played their part in hindering the Sabres' attack as the Vikings picked up 8 blocks. That mark falls just one shy of the team's season-high despite playing the minimum number of sets.Â
Leading the team in that regard was Sam Robinson, whose 5 blocks were a season high. Right behind him was setter Teddy Gedville with 4, whose 34 assists and 3 aces paced the Vikings. Emmanuel Eugene led the team on the attack with 17 kills, while Kaleb Patrick countered Marian's attack with a team-high 11 digs.Â
