CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Vikings men's volleyball team secured yet another sweep, following up Tuesday's win against Marian with a 3-0 victory vs. the IIT Scarlet Hawks. With it, the Vikings have marked their third sweep in their last four games and now sit at 6-3 on the season.
North Park was spearheaded by a highly efficient offensive effort that saw them complete 41 kills in 92 attacks, conceding just 9 errors for a season-best hitting percentage of .348. The team played clean volleyball on the defensive end as well, allowing only one receiving and blocking error each.Â
The first set stood out even by tonight's lofty standard as NPU earned 16 kills in 28 attacks with a lone error. The Vikings would win that first set by a score of 25-18 and would go on to take the next two at scores of 25-19 and 25-15. Beyond attacking play, the Vikings also added 7 points on aces, led individually by Teddy Gedville's 4.Â
Gedville also led the Vikings with 27 assists while picking up 3 kills from the setter position. Those passes most often met the swing of Emmanuel Eugene, who led the team with 13 kills. Behind Eugene were Erik Bullard and Sam Robinson who finished with 8 and 6 kills, respectively. Bullard added a solo block, while Robinson, Eugene, Gedville, and Parker Payne all picked up a block assist.Â
North Park opens up conference play the next time they take the court, facing off against the #7 ranked Carthage Firebirds on Saturday, February 18th. The Vikings will make the trip north to Kenosha's Tarble Arena with match start scheduled for 3:00 P.M.Â
