Chicago, Il., -- North Park men's volleyball hosted #17 Illinois Wesleyan University on Wednesday night at Carlson Gymnasium for their final home game of the season. The Vikings were unable to overcome the Titans, falling in straight sets (14-25, 13-25, 13-25).
Illinois Wesleyan established their rhythm early in the opening frame, utilizing a balanced attack to put pressure on the Viking defense. North Park saw early offensive contributions from Adekunle Adebayo and Isaac Vroom, while Gino Hamoy worked to distribute the ball under heavy pressure. However, the Titans' offensive efficiency allowed them to pull away mid-set to claim a 25-14 victory. The second set featured several hard-fought rallies as the Vikings tightened their net defense. Jonah Johnsamson and Adebayo teamed up for a timely block to energize the home crowd. Hamoy showed great awareness, finding gaps in the Titans' defense for three kills on just eight attempts as the Vikings' only setter in tonights match. Despite these efforts, Illinois Wesleyan's Patrick Dasbach delivered a final kill to seal the second frame 25-13.
In the final frame, North Park continued to battle, led by the defensive anchoring of Nolan Edkin and Zachary, who both recorded five digs in the match. Vroom powered through for a solo block and a team-high four kills, but the Titans' high-powered offense proved too much to overcome. Illinois Wesleyan maintained their consistency to close out the set 25-13 and secure the conference win.
North Park will close out the season on the road against Viking rival Augustana College on Saturday, April 4th with the match starting at 3pm.
