CHICAGO, Ill. -- North Park University is excited to launch The Esports/Gaming Excellence Scholarship starting in 2023. The Esports/Gaming Excellence Scholarship was created to recognize, honor, and reward student-athletes' Esports abilities. 

When applying for admission to North Park University, Esports student-athletes can secure a talent-based scholarship, in addition to academic and need based financial aid. 

The scholarship is limited to the top 15 applicants and will range from $500 to a maximum of $2,000, depending on the student-athlete's performance within the Esports community. Other criteria, such as service and additional extracurricular activity, will be taken into consideration.

The priority deadline for the scholarship submission is April 15, 2023.

Esports student-athletes will need to meet the following criteria to be eligible:

1. The student-athlete will need to meet the necessary number of credit hours to be considered a full-time student each semester.

2. The student-athlete will need to be an active Esports member on at least one of the Esports teams offered by North Park University.

3. The student-athlete will need to maintain an acceptable level of academic attainment through their overall Grade Point Average.

To maintain the scholarship, any Esports student-athlete who is granted the scholarship will forfeit access to the scholarship if they:

1. Cease activity as part of the Esports program.

2. Receive a failing grade for any course without withdrawing from the course.

3. Fail to meet the requirements necessary for classification as a full-time student.
