CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park women's volleyball team lost in straight sets to 12th-ranked WashU on Friday night, 27-25, 25-15, 25-20.
Halfway through the first set, North Park's hitting percentage climbed to .395, as the two nationally-ranked teams were battled it out on the north side. However, despite having the advantage in every statistical category, the Vikings dropped the opener, 27-25.
Through the three sets, the Bears were able to hold North Park to a .137 hitting percentage, while striking .235 themselves. Â
Overall, looking at the final numbers, the two squads were closely matched; WashU led the Vikings in kills (39-36), aces (6-3), assists, (37-36), and digs (60-56). Â
Adriana Rodriguez was still able to scratch a team-leading eight kills, followed by Kharilie Simeona-French and Shamyia Collier with seven and six, respectfully. Â
Christina Gatta recorded 26 assists in the three-set match while Carolina Aviles led the Vikings with 14 digs.

The Vikings (15-2) take on Saint Mary's College tomorrow, October 7, in the North Park Gymnasium. First serve is set for 3:00 PM.
