Viking Volleyball Bounces Back Against Belles

CHICAGO, Ill. -- The North Park women's volleyball team bounced back from last night's ranked loss to WashU, sweeping Saint Mary's College with scores of 25-16, 25-15, and 25-13 on Saturday afternoon. 22 Vikings saw time on the court in Saturday's match.

North Park led the way in every statistical category. The Vikings were able to hold St. Mary's to a miniscule .077 hitting percentage, compared to their own .346 on the day. NPU also led in points (60-22), kills (45-19), aces (12-1), assists (42-18), and digs (54-42).  

Sophomore outside hitter Annaliese Rottman led the Vikings with a season-high of 10 kills. Junior outside hitter Kharlie Simeona-French and freshman middle blocker Meg Rothermel were close behind with eight and seven kills of their own. 

As for Aces, senior setter Christina Gatta and junior middle blocker Shamyia Collier led the way with three each.  

Gatta was also able to put up a team-high 20 assists, placing her first in the CCIW with 613. Freshman setter Kendal Britton recorded eight of her own for a team second-best and established a career high.

Senior setter Jenna Jones and sophomore libero Carolina Aviles led the team with nine digs a piece. Senior libero Delaney Lynch records seven digs of her own while Zoe Lorica had a pair of kills. Riana Hayes, Andjela Dimitrijevic, Rian Hobbs, and Grace Morrow all added a kill each.

 

What's Next? 

The Vikings (16-2) head to Bloomington, Illinois to face off against Illinois Wesleyan in a CCIW matchup next Wednesday, October 11, at 6:00 pm.
