CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Vikings men's volleyball took home court for the first time in 2023, earning a 3-1 victory over the Wabash Little Giants to move to 3-2 on the young season.
North Park started the night on a strong note, winning Set 1 with 15 kills to just 1 error. That was good for an elite .483 hitting percentage as five Vikings players earned multiple kills through the set.
Set 2 represented a rough patch for NPU though, accumulating 11 kills to 4 attacking errors in 31 attempts. Wabash too ceded 4 errors, but their attack produced 14 kills to tie the match at 1-1.
The Vikings responded in the third and fourth sets with strong performances to close out the Little Giants. Set 3 marked the team's largest margin of victory on the night with a 25-14 win, spurred by a 12-3 run across the middle of the set. Along the way, North Park one-upped their Set 1 effort with a .526 hitting percentage. Wabash played the Vikings much closer in Set 4, working the score to 22-22. A kill by Parker Payne gave NPU the upper hand, and Emmanuel Eugene finished the set with 2 kills from there.
Eugene led the Vikings in kills with 13, followed closely by Sam Robinson who picked up 12. Many of those came courtesy of Teddy Gedville, whose 37 assists were a game-high. Gedville also picked up a team-high with 3 aces. Defensively, Kaleb Patrick led the team with 14 digs and Robinson led in blocks with 4.
